Eleven hours to discover Bosnia from Dubrovnik: Mostar's Old Bridge (UNESCO), the Ottoman bazaar and the spectacular Kravica Waterfalls. Passport required.
We cross the border at dawn to reach Mostar before most of the tour buses. Mostar is where East meets West: an Ottoman town with a bazaar, mosques and the iconic Old Bridge (Stari Most), a UNESCO World Heritage Site rebuilt after the war of the 1990s.
You'll have 2-3 hours of free time to get lost in the Old Town: the Kujundžiluk bazaar with its Ottoman crafts, the mosques overlooking the Neretva River, and the traditional divers who leap from the bridge (24 m). Eating in the bazaar is an experience in itself: ćevapi, burek and baklava for around 8-15 €.
We continue to the Kravica Waterfalls, one of the most impressive natural wonders in Herzegovina. A 25-metre curtain of water formed by the Trebižat River, surrounded by lush greenery. Free time to swim (in summer) or simply enjoy the scenery. Back to Dubrovnik in the afternoon.
We pick you up at your hotel or accommodation and set off in an air-conditioned minivan towards the Croatia-Bosnia border.
Border crossing (15-30 min depending on the season). Passport required. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not in the EU. Spanish citizens can enter Bosnia with just a valid national ID card, without a passport, as long as the document doesn't expire within 90 days of the trip.
Arrival in the Old Town. Free time (2-3 hours) to visit the Old Bridge (UNESCO), the Kujundžiluk bazaar and the mosques, and to have lunch on a terrace overlooking the Neretva River.
Mostar's traditional divers leap from the Old Bridge (24 m) into the Neretva River. A centuries-old tradition. Watching them jump is one of the most striking moments of the day.
Minivan transfer (40 min) through the rural landscape of Herzegovina to the Kravica Waterfalls.
A spectacular 25-metre waterfall formed by the Trebižat River. Free time (1h30) to swim (in summer), walk the trails or grab a drink at one of the snack bars.
We head back to Dubrovnik, crossing the border again. Estimated arrival at your accommodation around 18:30-19:00.
Times may vary depending on waiting times at the border. The stops and order of the itinerary may be adjusted depending on the group and conditions on the day.
We only charge a deposit in advance of 15 €/person to secure your spot. The balance (43 €/person) is paid on the day of the tour, in cash or by Revolut. That way, if the trip has to be cancelled due to bad weather, you get your money back straight away.
Up to 24 h before the tour: full refund of the deposit.
If we cancel due to sea conditions or the cave being closed: 100% refund or a free date change.
You pay the remaining 43 €/person on the day of the tour, in cash (EUR) or by Revolut.
A very complete tour. We left early and crossed the border without waiting. We fell in love with Mostar: the Old Bridge, the bazaar smelling of kebab and spices, the divers leaping into the Neretva... a really authentic experience.
The Kravica Waterfalls were a huge surprise. We didn't expect anything so spectacular. We were able to swim in the pools (in September the water is still warm) and enjoy an almost tropical landscape in the middle of Bosnia.
The Kujundžiluk bazaar in Mostar is like stepping into another world. Cobbled streets, copper workshops, mosques, restaurants smelling of chargrilled meat. We had ćevapi and burek for less than 10€ per person.
Mario reminded us on WhatsApp to bring our passports (Bosnia isn't in the EU). It's an important detail many tourists forget. Without a passport you can't get in. That heads-up saved us a lot of trouble.
We watched a traditional Stari Most diver jump. A 24-metre drop into the river. An impressive sight for the 5€ or so in tips the tourists leave. An authentic tradition, not a manufactured tourist show.
Comfortable minivan, air conditioning, and a guide with a wealth of information about the war in the 90s, the rebuilding of the bridge and how Croats, Bosniaks and Serbs live together today. An educational tour as well as a beautiful one.
We took our children (10 and 13) and we all loved it. The kids were amazed by the divers and got into the water at the waterfalls. Educational as well as fun: they saw the recent history of the Balkans first-hand.
Kravica in August is busy but the pools are big. There's a small snack bar with drinks and basic food. You can swim and there's an area to lie in the shade of the trees. Refreshing after the heat of Mostar.
The perfect tour for a second day in Dubrovnik (after exploring the city). It takes you away from the beach-and-Adriatic setting into another world: Ottoman culture, rural Balkan landscapes, recent history.
In June the Kravica Waterfalls are at their fullest. Truly impressive, far more powerful than in high summer. A good time to go if you're more interested in the waterfall than the swim.
Absolutely recommended for anyone who wants to get out of Dubrovnik for a day. The border can be a pain in July-August but leaving early (7:30) pays off. We got back around 18:30 with time for dinner in Dubrovnik.
Mostar's Old Bridge is one of those places that stays with you. We watched the divers, strolled along both banks and had lunch near the bridge with spectacular views. Its UNESCO status is thoroughly deserved.
A honeymoon couple. We were looking for something different from the sea and chose this. Spot on. Mostar has an Eastern vibe that's unique in Europe. The Kravica Waterfalls were the perfect way to cool off at the end of the day.
A local guide with very good English and a wealth of historical information. He told us stories about the war, how they rebuilt the bridge stone by stone, and how people live together today. Much more than a sightseeing trip.

Yes. Bosnia and Herzegovina is NOT in the EU: you need a valid passport to cross the border. A Spanish national ID card is NOT enough.
Mostar: Old Town, Old Bridge (Stari Most, UNESCO World Heritage), Koski Mehmed-Pasha Mosque, Kujundžiluk bazaar. Kravica Waterfalls: a spectacular waterfall on the Trebižat River, with time to swim or take a dip.
Mostar is a crossroads of cultures between East and West. The Old Bridge (16th century, rebuilt after the war) links the two banks and is one of the most iconic symbols of the Balkans. A perfectly preserved Ottoman Old Town.
Yes, it's allowed (except when the water level is very high). Bring swimwear, a towel and shoes that can get wet. The water is cool even in summer.
Yes, in Mostar you'll have 2-3 hours of free time. We recommend eating in the Kujundžiluk bazaar: ćevapi (chargrilled minced meat), burek (filled pastry) and baklava for dessert. Very reasonable prices (8-15 €).
Yes. Mostar's traditional divers jump into the Neretva River from the Old Bridge (24 m high). It's an authentic spectacle, not one put on for tourists: people leave a tip and they jump. Watching is free.
The convertible mark (BAM). Many shops in tourist areas accept euros directly, but the exchange rate may be unfavourable. There are cash machines in Mostar to withdraw BAM.
The local guide speaks English. Mario looks after you personally on WhatsApp before and after the tour.
You only pay the 15 €/person deposit online via Stripe. The balance (43 €/person) is paid to the guide on the day of the tour, in cash (EUR) or by Revolut.
15-30 minutes in low season. In July-August it can take up to 1h. That's why we leave early (07:30) to avoid the queues.
Yes. We stop at well-placed viewpoints for photos: views of the Neretva valley, old Ottoman fortresses and the rural landscape of Herzegovina.
Yes, up to 24 h before we refund your deposit in full.
Maximum 16 people in an air-conditioned minivan. If you'd like a private tour for your group, we can arrange it separately.
